Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior used to
establish power and control over another person
through the use of fear and intimidation, often
including the threat or use of violence.
Domestic violence may include emotional abuse,
economic abuse, sexual abuse, using children, treats,
using male privilege, intimidation, isolation, and a
variety of other behaviors used to maintain fear,
intimidation, power and control.

FACTS
24,106 domestic violence cases were reported to Oklahoma law
enforcement agencies in 2006, resulting in:

*  47 homicides
*  3,636 felony assaults
*   733 violent sex crimes
*   19,690 felony assault and battery

( Only 50% of intimate violence incidents are
reported to law enforcement.) (OSBI 2006 UCR)

Since these numbers are going on 4 years old, the
numbers now must be a lot higher. With job losses
and times getting harder these number will only
go up.

Law enforcement looks at Domestic Violence calls
as one of the most dangerous calls they can go on.
