D.A.R.E.
TO RESIST DRUGS
AND VIOLENCE
Millions of school children around the would will benefit from D.A.R.E. (Drug
Abuse Resistance Education), the highly acclaimed program that gives kids the
skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs and violence.
D.A.R.E. was founded in 1983 in Los Angeles and has proven so successful
that it is now being implemented in 75 percent of our nation's school districts
and in more than 43 countries around the world.
Over the course of the past three years, well over
200 communities have started new D.A.R.E. Programs.
D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children
from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live
productive drug and violence-free lives.

Here's a look at Garfield County Sheriff's Department
D.A.R.E. car that we have now in use.

Garfield County Sheriff's Department is seeking help from individuals and businesses to transform
and trick out a SUV seized from a local drug dealer into a one-of-a-kind vehicle. The project to turn a
1999 Chevrolet Blazer into the county's newest Drug Resistance Education (DARE) program
vehicle. Plans for the Blazer include Lamborghini-style doors, a hood scoop with LED lights, a body
kit and air ride suspension. The estimated cost of the project is between $6,500 and $7,500. The
SUV is going to be used in all the parades, get in some car shows, community activities and be taken to
area schools as part of the D.A.R.E. Program. We want to use it to bring attention to our anti-drug
program and campaign. The Blazer was once used in numerous criminal narcotic activities within
your community and now we want to transform it into a positive drug-awareness icon within the
community. The Blazer was on display at Enid's Home Show as part of the D.A.R.E. Booth April 23
& 24 before a EF-2 tornado hit one of the other buildings at about 10:00PM and took part of the
buildings roof off (Our booth was not damaged). Can see what photos of the storm damage at
